Candidates Night

All Weymouth Mayoral, Counselor at Large, and District 6 candidates to attend

On Tuesday, October 22 UPvoters.org and the Southfield Neighborhood Association will hold a 2019 Candidate Night in preparation for the important municipal election on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.  Attendees will include:

For Mayor –

  • Mayor Robert Hedlund (incumbent)

  • Edward Cohen

For Counselor at Large –

  • Tim Cronin

  • Becky Haugh (District 1 Town Counselor)

  • Fred Happel (incumbent)

  • Christopher Heffernan (incumbent)

  • Mike Molisse (incumbent)

  • Jane Hacket (incumbent)

For District 6 Counselor (Union Point’s district) –

  • Michael Smart (incumbent – unopposed)

Here’s what’s at stake:

  • The search for a new Master Developer – Will local government demands make or break the search for a new master developer?

  • Future upkeep of roads and infrastructure – When will the town establish a definitive timeline for road acceptance, public safety, and other infrastructure responsibilities?

  • South Weymouth Commuter rail – Is pressure being applied to the MBTA and State to address overcrowding?

  • Restaurants, Retail, and Housing – Nothing happens without infrastructure. Is the town committed to a REALISTIC approach to infrastructure funding?

There’s much more. Please attend!
